Kyoto & Nara: Make Room for the Moments Between

Bamboo paths. Unhurried lunches. Time to enjoy where you are.

Plan my Kyoto & Nara journey

A memorable Kyoto stay does not need a long checklist. Sometimes the best day begins with one neighbourhood, one place you have always wanted to see and enough time to follow your curiosity.

Start with one side of Kyoto

Arashiyama brings together the bamboo grove, Togetsukyo Bridge and the gardens of Tenryu-ji. These give a western Kyoto outing a natural focus, without having to cross the city after every stop.

Our suggestion: choose a main experience, leave space for lunch and treat additional stops as possibilities. A private car connects parts of your route; exploring gardens and historic streets still happens on foot.

Give Nara its own space

If Nara is a priority, consider giving it a separate day instead of adding it to an already full Kyoto itinerary. Tell your operator what matters most: fewer stops, shorter walks, a family-friendly pace or more time to explore independently.

These are planning preferences to discuss, rather than a fixed tour package. Share any walking or access requirements before the route is confirmed.

Let your hotel be part of the experience

Leave time to return, refresh and enjoy the stay you selected. A thoughtfully paced itinerary should work around dinner reservations and hotel plans, too.

Explore our Kyoto stay guide and discuss your route through the Japan private car page.
